Senate Meeting To Discuss Marijuana Bills
Well … it is that time of year again. Michigan legislators who cannot leave well enough alone are tinkering with the Medical Marijuana Act. As President Ronald Reagan once said, “there you go again.” Here is the agenda:
7/18 Senate Judiciary
Agenda:
HB 4834 Require photograph on medical marihuana card;
HB 4851 Clarify definition of “bona fide physician-patient relationship”;
HB 4853 Implement sentencing guidelines for crime of selling or providing medical marihuana to unprescribed user;
HB 4856 Allow transporting medical marihuana in motor vehicle under certain circumstances;
HB 5124 Establish concurrent jurisdiction in certain courts;
HB 5225 Revise certain procedures for purchase and possession of pistols;
HB 5498 Revise sentencing guidelines for certain firearm violations to reflect changes in substantive laws;
HB 5499 Revise certain procedures for purchase and possession of pistols;
HB 5466 Prohibit certain indemnification provisions in construction-related service contracts with public agencies;
HB 5592 Extend effective period for writ of wage garnishment;
HB 5159 Provide for the state drug treatment court advisory committee to monitor veterans treatment court; HB 5162 Create veterans treatment court; And any other business properly before the committee.
I’m sure the Senate will be thinking of prosecutors and cops rather than patients and caregivers when the time comes to vote on these bills. Call your senator in Lansing to complain. Otherwise, buckle up.
