It is a felony in Michigan for any person to break into a building with the intent to commit a crime using any explosive devices. MCL 750.11 It is also a felony for any person to knowingly have any tool in their possession used or designed to be used as a tool for breaking into a building, room, depository, etc. MCL 750.116.

In addition, it is a misdemeanor for anyone to break into a coin box, depository, or an outside showcase. MCL 750.113/750.114.
