It is a felony offense in Michigan for any officer or agent of an insolvent bank to knowingly sell, or in any way dispose of, money or property of the bank with the intent to defraud any creditor who has a claim against the bank. MCL 750.96.

It is also a felony for any person to willfully and maliciously circulate rumors or suggestions that are derogatory to the financial situation of a bank or trust company doing business in the state of Michigan. MCL 750.97.
