It is illegal for anyone to commit or aid in committing any of the following for financial gain as a criminal enterprise:

  • A violation of the public health code, social welfare act, or Medicaid false claim act

  • Jury tampering
  • Bribery
  • Child sexual abuse
  • Computer crimes
  • Forgery
  • Horse racing
  • Human trafficking
  • Embezzlement

If a person is employed or associated with an enterprise (which includes corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies etc.) that is knowingly participating in the racketeering activity listed above he or she could face felony charges punishable by no more than 20 years imprisonment, a fine of no more than $100,000.00, or both.  MCL 759.159(f), 759.159(i).
